Musical potential is a new venture for me in 2009 which aims to further enhance students ability to achieve enjoyment from their music.
Over my years of teaching and performing I have come across many people for whom playing or even practising in front of others presents many difficulties. It can effect people in many different ways for example in performance some experience a range of symptoms from mild lack of confidence to physical symptoms like shaking, dry mouth and difficulties regulating breathing. It can also effect practise where the constant voice of criticism narrates every session or sessions fluctuate; one day that difficult section goes brilliantly the next the fingers are clumsy and unresponsive.
Teaming up with experienced Cognitive behavioural therapist Sarah Bateup we aim to provide workshops to introduce the idea of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to enhance potential when practising playing and/ or performing. Our workshops aim to demystify the thoughts and feelings experienced & help participants reveal their true musical potential.
